Arch: ''MYM is our arch-enemy!''

WCG-Europe: You’ve just taken the title for Sweden with your team fnatic and bested the SEC-Tournament. How do you feel after this victory and why did you hand over the first map?

Archi: It feels great! I’m very happy about this victory, even if we, as evidenced by the first map, didn’t play completely flawless. A lot of times we just didn’t get into the game, so we lost the first pistol-round which was a real game-breaker for us on that map. But MYM played a very good match against us and didn’t make anything easy for us.

WCG-Europe: So is the Polish MYM-Team something like your arch-enemy?

Archi: In a way I guess you could consider them that, yes. Over all these months fnatic and back then PGS also were the two top-teams and were always fighting for the overall win at several events. And they often had several advantages, but today we showed them that we’re definitely still in the game as well.

WCG-Europe: In the simultaneously happening Extreme-Masters-Tournament, you were forced out rather early, while here at the SEC everything went optimal for you. How come the large difference in performance?

Archi: It is kind of funny, but I think during that day we just had a really bad start and didn’t manage to break the slump. But here at the SEC we just went into overdrive in just the right moment and it feels awesome to have finished at least one out of two tournaments in first place. This victory was very important to us as a team.

WCG-Europe: Some of the players are complaining about the TFT-monitors and the background noise. Why didn’t you even play with a voice-program?

Archi: The complaints about the TFTs I can’t really understand, for me there’s barely any difference. A professional player shouldn’t be bothered by it at all. We’ve played a lot of tournaments over the last two years and by now 75% of them have switched over to newer technologies. And that trend will continue in the future as well. My team and me have gotten used to it and other players should do it as well. During any tradeshow you’re going to have a lot of noise, so you have to pay close attention to any sound in the game. So voice-chat would hinder your performance, and that’s why we’ll just shout important orders. Of course I can’t hear cArns yelling from the other side but the most essential information is just passed from mate to mate. But on top of that, we really know our tactics and actually don’t need to say much at all.

WCG-Europe: What are your goals for 2008 and what do you think about the ELC and their 152.000 Euros worth of prize-money?

Archi: We want to win as many tournaments as possible, that’s what we’ve been trying for successfully for the last few years. The World Cyber Games in Cologne are a part of that goal, just like the new Esports League of Champions. The ELC offers the perfect stage for all competitors with its’ own studio in Stockholm and will deal with only the best teams in the world. Another advantage is not having too many matches during the individual days with a tournament spanning several weeks, so you can prepare for the different teams much better and quickly end a bad day. I’m really looking forward to it, also because I know some of the organizers and know that there’s a lot of potential in the ELC.

WCG-Europe: Thanks for the Interview!
