WC3: Interview SaSe

WCG-Europe: You know ToD from your time spent in China and defeated him yesterday 2:1. Was your previous experience a great advantage for you?

SaSe: I don’t think that I’d have any noteworthy advantage just because we’ve trained together or know each other’s play-style. We’ve sat together a lot in China and talked about WarCraft 3 and learned from each other. He knows me and I know him, so it’s pretty evenly balanced. But ToD just wasn’t in good shape yesterday, that’s why I was able to win. Maybe he just wasn’t satisfied with the circumstances of the match.

WCG-Europe: Were you expecting to make it into the Overall-Finals?

SaSe: My training in the last weeks didn’t go so well, since I’m back in Europe and my computer and net-access aren’t optimal. So I’ve trained more on a mental level, I just try my best to concentrate on the game completely and not get nervous. Unfortunately I still sometimes think about things other than WarCraft 3 during a match. That’s a disadvantage I’ve managed to reduce in the last few weeks. But still it’s been really tough getting this far and XlorD was a huge challenge. It wasn’t easy winning against him. With Grubby I had just the right counter-strategy against his and ToD sadly wasn’t at his best. But still I’m happy to have made it into the Overall-Finals.

WCG-Europe: There have been some changes in your mousesports-team recently, what’s your opinion on that?

SaSe: I joined the clan over two years ago and by now I’m really satisfied with my team. I really really like it, especially since I get along so well with ToD and have connected to the Chinese players as well. It’s really great now! We don’t have such a huge roster, so everybody gets to play every now and then and that’s good the way it is. Even if Yumiko or Sed aren’t at official events that often, they still train very hard, prove that they’re great players and just fit into the team great. We have a strong team and are going to achieve a lot of great things, even if we need to work on our 2on2.

WCG-Europe: Soon there’s supposed to be a new WC3-patch, what are you hoping for?

SaSe: That everything stays exactly the same! It’s all balanced out pretty well, as you can clearly see looking at the races used during the tournament. Neither during the SEC nor during the Extreme-Masters you’d see unusually many Nightelf- or Undead-players. In my opinion it’s almost perfect the way it is and I don’t know what they should change or why.

WCG-Europe: You’re currently living in China, but originally come from Sweden. Could you compare the two countries?

SaSe: They’re two completely different countries with completely different cultures. In China I just have much better ways of training for WarCraft 3, I have more friends there and the food is great. Sweden is just boring, sure it’s nice to come back from time to time and spend a week there, but I definitely prefer being in China. It’s just a lot more fun to go out there as well. In Sweden you don’t have the same options.

WCG-Europe: Thanks a lot for the interview and good luck in the finals!
