Johan Lidιn (CEO of the ELC) comments on the ELC:
Thanks to the massive support from our partners and especially ICM we now are on the verge of launching the most exiting professional electronic sport tournament format that I have come across. We are convinced that we can offer our community customers added value through quality broadcasting, online gaming, tournaments and a global Esport news section at no cost for the user. The ELC includes community, competition, broadcasting, stars and fun.
For the start of the first season of the ELC, teams and players from all around the world will be invited to the tournament. In the future every country shall have its own local qualification tournaments. Afterwards all players will be flown to the ELC headquarters in Stockholm, where 8 teams and players will compete with each other.
Participants (G7 Countries) of the ELC Season 1 are:

The first Season of the
"Esport League of Champions" will consist of
Counter-Strike 1.6 and
Warcraft III. In the near future more games will be incorporated into the
ELC, amongst others
FIFA,
World of Warcraft and
other blockbusters.
Things will start out with a group-phase divided into two groups, a team or player has to play three matches per group. If a team or a player competes in a match, they receive a starting bonus based on their discipline:
Starting bonus
Counterstrike 1.6 1.000
Warcraft III 200

At three matches this brings the starting bonus up to
3.000 for CS and
600 for WC3. For every match played, players or teams receive points. Two points will be awarded for a win, one point for a draw and no points for losing a match. In addition to the starting bonus, teams and players receive
point-bonuses as well:
Point bonus (1 win = 2 points / 1 draw = 1 point)
Counterstrike 1.6 - 2.000 per point
Warcraft III - 400 per point
A team or player can therefore win a cash-prize ranging from 2.600 up to 15.000 without even reaching the Playoffs. The group-phase will span three weeks, the Playoffs will last an additional two weeks. On top of the start- and point-bonuses there will be cash-prizes during the Playoffs as well:
Counter-Strike 1.6 (Total Prize Money: 127.000)
1st place: 25.000
2nd place: 15.000
3rd place: 10.000
4th place: 5.000
Warcraft III (Total Prize Money: 25.400)
1st place: 5.000
2nd place: 3.000
3rd place: 2.000
4th place: 1.000
That brings up all cash-prizes to 152.000. Two seasons are planned per year, equaling the amazing sum of around 300.000 per year.

The games will be transmitted live from the very own
ELC Arena in Stockholm. The
ELC Arena has its own
cameras,
microphones and
moderators. The games will be broadcast in
HD-Quality (1080i or 720p) to every single country. The technical aspects will be taken care of by
"Octoshape", who already guarantee perfect broadcasting for other major leagues around the globe. Current plans include broadcasts in several different languages and on different channels. Broadcasts can also be streamed globally from the local ELC website.
A league is often only as strong as its community and in order to focus on this aspect, the so-called ELCZONE will be launched.
The ELCZONE covers the following community features:
- Online-League for all players
- Ranking-system for the Online-League
- Blog-System for users
- Multi-language support for numerous different countries
- Additional community features like forums and many more
One of the largest features of the ELCZONE will be a tool called GamOn. This toll was first concepted and used for the WCGZONE.
The GamOn tool combines the following features:
- Match Generation for ELCs own Online-League
- Chat-System
- Friend-System
- Statistics-System
- GameOn Messenger
- Anticheat
Every participant of the ELCZONE must have GamOn installed on his PC; the tool also works as an anti-cheat tool. The WCGZONE has already made many positive experiences with using GamOn.
All things considered, the concept of ICM (International Cyber Marketing) sounds promising and we can all look forward to the "Esport League of Champions".
