The danish CS-Team from
mTw.international is one of the favourits teams at the upcoming
Samsung Euro Championship hold at the CeBIT. So that´s why we caught one of the players from mTw for an interview, namend Alexander "ave" Holdt. What are the goals? What do they expect on the SEC in Hannover? Just read it.
WCG-Europe.com: Hello. You are invited to the Samsung Euro Championship to represent Denmark as the national team. How do you feel?
ave: We are very excited to participate in this tournament and represent our country. It will be our second year in a row to attend SEC. Being disappointed in last year’s performance, we strive to prove ourselves as major contender to the international top5.
Are there any special preperations or changes in your lineup to achieve the best results?
Due to our latest performances we felt forced to make a change in our roster, replacing hpx with whimp. This make Sunde take over hpx’ awp-duties. We have been bootcamping for nearly a week to make this transition as smooth as possible.
You are one of the favourites in the cs tournament. So what do you expect for the tournament?
The expectations are once again a top3, but our main goal is to gain experience that could benefit us in the long run, reaching the top spot in the upcoming late-year tournaments.
As you may know the SEC will take part on the CeBIT, one of the largest trade fairs of the world. Will you enjoy the location or just try to focus on the tournament?
There is a lot of exciting gaming-related booths to experience, but our focus is always on the tournaments. We will certainly spend the majority of our time either spectating or playing these.
Are you planning to play at the WCG Grand Finals in Cologne this year?
We would do anything in our power to attend this tournament as it is one of the most honorable tournaments in 2008. Naturally this attendance depends on our performance at the national qualifier.
What role does your position as “national team” play during an event like the WCG/SEC? Is it special to represent a country or is it just another tournament to you?
Of course it is satisfying to represent your own country in a tournament!
Some weeks ago you changed your clan and build up the international CS-team for the german oldschool Clan mTw. How it’s going up so far?
Untill now the staff of mTw has shown and done a great job. We feel the erge to pay this back with results, which has not yet been present. Hopefully the results will appear within short time.
Now a little funny question: Let’s say you could change anything you wanted about the WCG tournament rules, what changes would you make?
Since all topteams have adjusted to the „new“ kind of gameplay tabbing their duck-button, the WCG staff must have realized the greatest problem with their old rules; silentrun. Obviously they are trying to avoid those problems which accured in Seattle, by removing the rule about silentrun in this European tournament. I think it’s safe to say that all topteams appreciate this decision – I would have done the same ( smiley).
Do you already test the CS Promod? If yes what are you impressions?
I have not yet tried the Promod for more than ten minutes. My impression was that it had nice graphics, but I missed the same kind of speed as in 1.6.
Last but not least: What are your personal goals for 2008?
In 2007 we lost two major tournaments and some minor ones too. Now it must be our turn to become the definitive best team in the world and hold the throne as long as possible!
